Someone Hates Underage Music Lovers

Just doing some ranting about Hopscotch and their 21+ policy in many clubs. If I am going to pay $80 to see a festival, I want to see who I want to see. It's not that I am getting jipped on possible artists that I can see, its the fact that I am unable to see many acts that I've been looking forward to see. I've painted up their schedule with the possible shows an underage attendee can see. Seems a little weak to me.

One act that I have been keeping up with as of late, due to a phenomenal single, is The War on Drugs. Their latest single, "Comin' Through," is down below and a song that is literally to die for. Just take a listen and see what I mean. It's rock, it's not, it stands apart and it's good.

Big Names Added To Raleigh's Hopscotch

One of the largest, if not the largest music festival's in North Carolina in 2010; HOPSCOTCH [DUH] has added some huge National acts to the event's lineup.

No doubt that there are some major acts rolling through Raleigh in early September. These bold acts are just ones that I recognize as being worth your time. Some are not. Others [lots] I know nothing about and will be researching and most likely posting on the blog. Maybe a special...I don't want to over commit myself seeing as it would be a big task but definitely ones unknown to me that y'all should check it will be posted. Having some big names in music stopping by will no doubt create more of a buzz for the festival, one that could keep it a recurring end-of-summer jamfest or draw larger acts before the festival releases more names on April 12th.

Admission for Hopscotch Music Festival is designed to suit a wide range of fans. Individual tickets for the shows in Raleigh City Plaza—on Friday, Sept. 10, featuring Panda Bear, Broken Social Scene and The Rosebuds; on Saturday, Sept. 11, featuring Public Enemy, No Age and The Love Language—cost $30 each. For $45, fans can buy a wristband that allows entry into all nine festival clubs for all three days. A limited number of $85 wristbands gain fans admission to both City Plaza shows and all clubs, saving $20 off of face value. A very limited number of $120 VIP wristbands are available.

Hopscotch Music Festival September 9-11, 2010

Looks like there is going to be a big music festival in our backyard during the latter part of the summer. On September 9, 10, and 11 triangle area magazine Independent Weekly is going to put on a multi-venue festival in downtown Raleigh. They are going to have numerous indoor venues as well as a main outdoor stage in City Plaza on Fayetteville Street. They are planning on drawing in a stock of local artists. Which could include acts such as Megafaun, Lonnie Walker, Annuals, Hammer No More the Fingers, Red Collar, the Love Language, Bombadil, Bowerbirds, Midtown Dickens, the Old Ceremony, Kooley High, and many others. They also are going to draw in some of the big names in the music biz right now, which could include just about anyone. They are going release a list of confirmed bands in mid February. Tickets are going to go on sale in February as well and range from single shows to a full festival pass. Hopscotch wants to rival the large summer festivals (Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Coachella, SXSW and Rothbury) and step above local festivals. (Merlefest and Shakori Hills) I'm looking forward to the lineup of the local festival.
