Alright guys, I keep putting this off and it's the reason posts haven't been as frequent as of late. I am working up in the mountains this summer for the months of June and July. I know what you're thinking, why would you go and do this? It's a summer camp up in the mountains of NC, It'll be my 8th summer up there, 3rd as a counselor. It's an awesome way to spend the summer; little expenses and loads of fun. There is barely cell service and wireless is a strictly weekends deal. I don't think snail mail, the most reliable form of communication would be a feasible means of distributing posts of Your Third Ear. [even though this could be an interesting thought...newsletter/magazine of YTE] ha.
It's going to be an especially difficult summer with the exceptional album releases slated. Not to mention, THE WORLD CUP, that big soccer tournament that stops time in every country but the USA is happening. Last time it was on I was at camp for two weeks and out West on a trip. So I guess I am one to have big plans when World Cup comes around but I do have the Championship week off, July 3rd-10th, so I will catch some of the good games. enough with that, let's talk music and future.
So with Kanye rapping again and a finished Arcade Fire album, I believe the music industry is in an upturn. I love spreading my musical tastes and opinions with the world, or what few readers I have accumulated over the last 6 months. I believe that my blogging will continue past this summer, it may be under the name Your Third Ear or another, who knows? Not me. I feel that people go to a blog for a consistent genre and that is something that I cannot seem to pinpoint because my tastes cover the spectrum. Right now I have recently picked up the latest from Crystal Castles and am digging that while switching to Deer Tick and Delta Spirit right after. My Wishlist on Amazon and Insound consist of upcoming stuff from The Roots, Gaslight Anthem, Suckers, Toro Y Moi, Titus Andronicus, The Love Language, and Big Boi.
I'm still going to write for Diversions over at the Daily Tar Heel, so you can for sure keep up with me over there. I will keep in touch though.
If anyone would like to keep in contact, send me an email at yourthirdear@gmail.com.
If you have some ideas about a blog collaboration you'd like to do, send me an email.
If you have any ideas of things I should do or things you might like to see in the future, drop a comment or send an email.
Distance makes the heart grow fonder, maybe two weeks into technological seclusion I will realize that I not being able to assert my opinion on music is a problem. In that case I'll start writing stuff and transcribing it to the computer in the spare time I can scrounge up between throwing kids in the pool and hike up mountains.
Hopefully Summer Sublimity will hold you over until I find my way back to the blogosphere.
If you recognize the lyrics from the title of this post "The day will come, the sun will rise, and we'll be fine," leave a comment and I'll email a super secret, non-posted mixtape. Try my other mixtape.
If you like this post or retweet it, I'll send you a link to the super-secret mixtape as well. Happy Trails.
Yours In Truth and Everything Music,
Joe Faile
