off Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows
Here is a new song from The Avett Brothers. They have managed to contribute this John Prine cover to the album Broken Hearts and Dirty Windows: The Songs Of John Prine. The Avett Brothers are just one of the 12 acclaimed artists on the cover album. This song is much better than the Tom T. Hall cover of "I Love," the horrible contribution to the Sweetheart 2010 compilation Starbucks compiled for Valentine's Day. This one digs up the Avett's roots for a pre-I-and-Love-and-You sound, it's good to hear.
My Morning Jacket, Drive-By Truckers, Justin Vernon [Bon Iver], Deer Tick, and Josh Ritter are among some of the big names the album features. I've gone through it once and for not knowing any John Prine music, I am still able to appreciate it. The album is coming out on June 22nd, 2010 on Prine's own Oh Boy Imprint label.
