Archive.com kicks ass. They were at Cat's Cradle this past weekend recording Megafaun's show. That is pretty awesome. Thanks to Triangle Music for posting this, it is a pretty awesome find. You can head over to Archive to listen to it or right here below. Looks like there are a few new songs that they played. Presumably they will be on their upcoming mini LP/extended EP coming out this summer.
They are playing dates in Asheville, Pittsboro, Raleigh, and Charlotte through the summer, catch 'em before they explode.

Megafaun | "Volunteers"

Megafaun - Volunteers

Looks like I'm on a local music binge today. Durham, NC band Megafaun has released a new song, "Volunteers." These folk rockers are making a follow up to 2009's Gather, Form, Fly and this is it's first single. The follow is not an LP or an EP though. And it isn't just this single. So What is it? A mini-LP. What does that mean? The best insight I can lend its that it is like an extended-EP or EP^2. A record that has 6 to 8 songs. This Carolina reminiscent song is a great lead in to the new record, one that builds off what they established last year and experiments with their folk tinges.

Megafaun @ Daytrotter

This North Carolina band busted out on the scene last year with the release of their highly touted LP Gather, Form, Fly. To great press and the tunes to back up the hype, the band has been extensively touring the country. They are now working on an EP with an unreleased date. A follow-up to their 2009 album should be quite an impressive release. They are running a blog commemorating this EP experience and more. Check out daytrotter, download the tunes here.
