[VID] Local Natives | "Wide Eyes"

This is what Jaws would look like if it was filmed on land. Well this is more of a dramedy than a thiller but you get the point, it's an indie rock video for a good song by an awesome band. I have some surprises from them I will throw your way in the coming days. Promise.

[Streaming on YTE] Local Natives | Gorilla Manor

Tomorrow [2/16] Local Natives is releasing it's debut album, Gorilla Manor, in the United States. This album was released back in 2009 to rave reviews across the world. I happened upon it last year when blogs started rolling out their top of '09 lists. It would have been on mine if I had caught it earlier. But their sound is unmatched. Gorilla Manor sucks you in like a girl scout behind a table layered with a spectrum of delicious treats. It is as memorable as Hitler's mustache. It will leave you wanting more and asking yourself "Have I ever heard anything better than this?" [not literally but you get the point] Guaranteed.

Here is the album streaming and a download of the great single "Sun Hands." I recommend you check out both.

Gems: "Sun Hands," "Airplanes," "World News," and "Camera Talk."

HEARING AID

HEARING AID

I would like to introduce a new segment to Your Third Ear. Hearing Aid will feature songs that I am currently listening to that are phenomenal. There won't be any criteria for the music, just whatever I'm feeling at the moment, be it new or old, rap or rock, opera or country. Hearig Aid will be a set of roughly 10-20 songs. Bi-monthly is a little to frequent, so is weekly, but monthly is way too long, so just lookout for Hearing Aid, because I will be putting it out whenever I feel. Hearing Aid will be straight music, no commentary, no videos, no related pictures, just the music. Here are a few tunes for Hearing Aid's inaugural post.

Washed Out - Feel It All Around
Surfer Blood - Swim (To Reach the End)
Harlem - Friendly Ghost
Local Natives - World News
Fresh Espresso - Diamond Pistols
Sleigh Bells - Crown On The Ground
Vampire Weekend - Giant
The Soft Pack - C'mon
Macklemore - Otherside
Los Campesinos! - There Are Listed Buildings
Cold War Kids - Audience of One
Freddie Gibbs - Crushin' Feelin's

Aw Shucks! (Superb Tunes I Missed Out On In 2009)

Trying to find new music is not the easiest thing when it comes to being in college. It's like trying to sleep in Las Vegas. (There's too much to do and so little time to do everything you planned) Winter break has been a nice change of pace. I have had ample time to search the internet and find new music. With just about every blog doing a list of top albums or songs I have discovered some pretty good stuff that would have certainly made it on my list of Most Important Albums or Top Songs.

Local Natives - Gorilla Manor

Cymbals Eat Guitars - Why There are Mountains

Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer

Wild Beasts - Two Dancers

The Drums - Summertime EP

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms
