[STREAMING] British Sea Power | Valhalla Dance Hall

Yeah, yeah, this is another post w/o a downloadable, but you may want to give their fifth studio album Valhalla Dancehall a listen. Don't count out this British rock band, British Sea Power are putting out some solid rock on Valhalla Dancehall, and I don't mean that hard-rocking accent-heavy rock by Muse. I have a hard time finding any accent from the Brighton singer's voice, which is never a downturn, but can sometimes, and in this case, be a good thing. Valhalla Dancehall is out next Tuesday 1/10/2011, pre-order it here.

After a successful 2009 release, the band is following up with this strong album that satisfies country and rock fans alike. That 2009 album, Steel Hearts, which really jump-started their career was released for free, find it at their Bandcamp and DOWNLOAD IT.

*This is a contender for their best album. This one conjures up their folk sound of yore and with the help of some guy from that phenomenal band R.E.M., PETER BUCK. The King is Dead isn't a Colin Meloy and the Decemberists album. Meloy shares the limelight with the whole band fostering a wholesome sounding album, setting the bar high for established bands in 2011.

A week before it comes out you can listen to the full album. Unfortunately the video doesn't complement the listening, but it doesn't take away from the brilliance a bit. It's nice to hear some of the older song with a full drum-kit instead of a kick drum. What more can I say, it's The Avett Brothers.

But in all due respect for artists and their music, and economic well-being, their reliance on the public purchasing their album. It seems that Zooey Deschanel has taken over the vocal reigns while bringing out the best in M. Ward's musical capabilities. I'm impressed with what I have heard so far. Less coated in love laden ballads, Volume Two captures the unfairness, restlessness, and yearning for love that is more ideal for most than it's predecessor, Volume One.

[Streaming on YTE] Local Natives | Gorilla Manor

Tomorrow [2/16] Local Natives is releasing it's debut album, Gorilla Manor, in the United States. This album was released back in 2009 to rave reviews across the world. I happened upon it last year when blogs started rolling out their top of '09 lists. It would have been on mine if I had caught it earlier. But their sound is unmatched. Gorilla Manor sucks you in like a girl scout behind a table layered with a spectrum of delicious treats. It is as memorable as Hitler's mustache. It will leave you wanting more and asking yourself "Have I ever heard anything better than this?" [not literally but you get the point] Guaranteed.
